Whispers in the Canopy: The Sutharii of Khezrak
Share
Not every traveler who steps through the doors of Loot & Lore is just looking to buy. Some come bearing stories, relics, or rumors, and few are as captivating as the Sutharii.
Hailing from the dense, mist-shrouded jungles of the hidden Isles of Khezrak, the Sutharii are a nimble and charismatic people; feline in form, but far from beastly. While their roots stretch deep into the mythos of ancient jungle clans, their paws rarely stay planted in one place for long. Wandering traders by day and cunning hunters by night, most Sutharii believe gold should be earned, food should be chased, and stories should be shared, when the company is right.
Those who meet a Sutharii on the road often walk away charmed or out-traded. Quick of tongue and quicker of hand, they’re infamous for being able to sell anything to anyone, or disappear before the bill comes due. Yet despite their reputation, Sutharii are not deceivers by nature. They value freedom, humility, cleverness, and loyalty; especially to those who treat them as equals. In the Merchant's Ward, they’re respected as fair dealers. At Loot & Lore, they’re welcomed as old friends.
While few outsiders ever visit the tangled heart of Khezrak, its people walk among the world’s greatest markets and dens of danger. Rarely seen settling down beyond their homeland, most Sutharii are born to roam, their legacy stitched into the hem of every worn cloak, whispered in the wind as they vanish into the trees.
Mechanically, Sutharii characters in your campaign gain +2 Dexterity and +1 Charisma, granting them natural skill as rogues, rangers, and charismatic casters. They boast superior senses, sharpened claws, and an uncanny knack for hiding, especially when nature aids them. Sub-races exist, each tracing lineage to primal feline spirits, but those secrets are stories for another time.
As for relics inspired by them? Keep your eyes on the shelves. The Sutharii’s mark is already etched into our first phone case drop, a mid-action tribute to their grace and grit. And in time, more designs will slink into our collections: hoodies, mugs, subtle sigils, and bold illustrations that carry their legacy beyond Khezrak.
Here in the Guildhall, their tales are remembered. And if you’re lucky, a Sutharii might just trade you one.
